"Energex currently operates two wood pellet plants in North America with a combined annual capacity of over 250,000 tons. Our process control system, automatic packaging facility, and environmental controls allow Energex to bag over 800 tons per day and to also hold thousands of tons in inventory to service peak demand periods.
Energex began operations in 1993 after acquiring the Lac-Megantic, QC facility from the Shell Oil Company. Shell Oil constructed the Lac-Megantic facility in 1981, making it one of the oldest wood pellet plants in North America. After being purchased by Energex, a packaging facility was added to bag premium grade wood pellet fuel and this completed the renovation, rehabilitation, and the modernization of the facility.
In 2000, Energex merged a West Virginia pellet plant with a plant in Mifflintown, PA and created the Energex American facility. The Mifflintown, PA plant is now the foremost supplier of hard wood pellets in the mid-Atlantic region.
2013 marks the return of Founder/CEO Bruce Lisle to the Energex Corporation. Bruce has served on the board of the Pellets Fuel Institute for the last 18 years, 4 of which were as board president. With a rebranding and modernization of the company Energex is now squarely focused on once again becoming the premier wood pellet company in North America."
